This person will play an integral role in ensuring that our fast-paced and growing team is properly aligned and equipped to support mission planning, operations, and technology development.

Job Purpose:   

Responsible for assessing systems/mission, identifying mission challenges, and provides solutions for issues that arise in scope of the project or mission. Specific experience and familiarity with Model Based Systems Engineering will contribute to internal mission maturation and customer deliverables (Cameo).

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

·            Plans, designs, develops system requirements for space missions and projects

·            Evaluates, tests, and integrates the mission concept of operations

·            Define mission formulation, and objectives. Verify that system/mission meets objectives, and      coordinate team members to meet defined objectives

·            Working with customer, manage a project’s lifecycle from design, implementation, verification, integration and validation for space systems

·            Interface management of systems including development and management of ICDs (Interface Control document)

·            Development of test plans and procedures and oversight of the execution of these plans including documentation of test results

·            Support space system milestone reviews such as SRR, PDR, CDR, etc. Spacecraft subsystem design (Comm, GNC, ADCS, Propulsion, FDIR, EPS, etc)          and trade studies

·            Support space operations which may include coordination among operations team, anomaly resolution, and operational planning

·            Development of space system concept studies for specific mission plans

·            Risk management support and coordination Facilitating space system regulatory processes such as orbital debris assessment, frequency licensing, etc.

·            Team coordination with varying levels of technical staff such as the systems, astrodynamics and navigation engineers and project management

·            Supporting the development of technical proposals

 

Required Education, Desired Skills and Experience:

·            B.S./M.S./PhD in Aerospace Engineering with a technical emphasis Systems Engineering

·            3-5 years of experience in mission implementation of flight and ground systems with an emphasis on deep space systems preferred 

·            Intellectual - Analytical, continuous knowledge expansion, design, problem solving, project management, use of technology

·            Interpersonal – Cooperation, customer service, managing customer focus, oral communications, teamwork, written communication

·            Leadership – Delegation, role model for younger mission systems engineers

·            Organization – Conflict resolution, diversity, ethics, strategic thinking

·            Self-Management – Adaptability, dependability, attendance/punctuality, initiative, planning/organizing, quality, innovation, judgmen. Ability to work in an environment with rapidly      evolving system requirements

·            Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and related tools such as Cameo

·            Familiarity with NASA’s Systems Engineering Handbook and DoD programs

·            Familiarity with spacecraft communication system analysis and design

·            Experience with mission design and spacecraft navigation (Earth, Cislunar, and Deep Space)

·            Experience in a programming language (python preferred)

·            Experience with space mission assembly, integration & testing

 

Compensation and Benefits:

·            Base Salary Range – $75,696 - $122,649based on role, employee experience, and location
