Management

  • Function as lead accountant, implementing, maintaining, and documenting accounting procedures, processes, process improvements, flow charts, and related policies
  • Supervise all accounting department operations including external both internal and external support functions and contractors
  • Develop and monitor internal controls and company policies
  • Talent and performance management; Leverage strengths of the current finance team members, help to clarify roles and responsibilities and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.
  • Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.

 

Transaction Recording

  • Manage financial reporting, analysis and day-to-day accounting operations for two business entities
  • Ensure accounts payable and receivable are processed on time
  • Ensure timely recording of general ledger, expense reporting, fixed asset transactions
  • Manage accurate and timeline invoicing to Government Defense, Civil, and Commercial customers including cost-plus contracting with the US Government and vendor payments for important space flight programs
  • Support payroll and benefits administration as needed
  • Supervise/review bank and general ledger account reconciliations, monthly
  • Keep an updated chart of accounts
  • Maintain an up-to-date data storage system
  • Administer and advise on updates and improvements to accounting software

 

Reporting

  • Prepare relevant and timely financial reports for the management of the company and program managers
  • Prepare job cost, contract, and subcontract financial reporting.
  • Sales and use tax reporting; Colorado personal property tax reporting
  • Enter the company’s annual budget to enterprise accounting system
  • Develop monthly, periodic, and annual reports
  • Suggest ways to improve company performance
  • Generate and report financial operating metrics
  • Report budget variances to management
  • Establish and maintain accounting procedures and controls and monthly accounting calendar
  • Develop and monitor business performance metrics
  • Interface with team members on reporting activities

 

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with government regulations and contract requirements, including strict adherence to the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
  • Compliance with statutory law and financial regulations
  • Provide information and preparation of lead schedules to external auditors
  • Provide financial information for tax filing
  • Reporting required for tax and other periodic filings (R&D Tax Credits, etc.) stay abreast of industry developments and company operations to assist in increasing revenues, reducing costs or otherwise improving the net profit results for the company.

 

Other duties

  • Support proposal activity and help to create pricing responses to RFPs and RFQs.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in financial controllership role, BA in Finance or Accounting.  
  • 5+ years experience in government contract and subcontract financial management, government CAS – Cost Accounting Standards, FAR – Federal Acquisition Regulation
  • 3 - 5+ years experience - Cost Plus contracts, subcontract financial management, calculation of indirect dates
  • Exposure to DCAA audit rules
  • Experience selecting and overseeing software installations, configurations, and managing relationships with software vendors; advanced knowledge of accounting and reporting software
  • 3 - 5+ years experience: Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, QuickBooks Enterprise, UnaNet.
  • Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a diverse team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly
  • Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation versus. simple reporting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data, including presentations to senior management, board or other outside partners
  • Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non-finance managers
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Ability to work in the Westminster, CO office 5 days/week during core business hours.
  • Applicants must be a US Person (citizen or Green Card Holder/permanent resident, or protected individual)

 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base Salary Range – $90,480 – $155,000 based on role and experience
